The RE, RASC, RAOC, RAMC, REME had no single battalion-sized unit in a division. Instead, company-sized units were controlled by a Lt Col designated the Commander RE or Commander RASC as applicable. They coordinated their work and acted as an adviser to the GOC on their arm/service matters.
