Text Box: Global Oil Demand
2004 80 million bbl/d
2010 95+ million bbl/d
2030 130 million bbl/d
Due to massive investments in past years, which continue to be made due to record oil prices, 2010 oil production at 101 million bbl/d will match demand and provide some reserve against disruptions. The world is not running out of oil by any means - recent year prices justify extraction of another 30% of oil from existing fields - only 30% has been tapped - giving a true reserve of 1-trillion bbl. That is about as much as has been extracted over all time.
US 2025 imports could reach 20-million barrels per day
